  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) - The Chelmsford Public Schools has continued its commitment to the use of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) practices to create dynamic lessons that provide curriculum access for all students. Universal Design for Learning
is a set of principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn. UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone--not a single, one-size-fits-all solution but rather flexible approaches that can be customized and adjusted for individual needs.   For more information about Universal Design for Learning visit: http://cast.org

Chelmsford Highlighted on UDL Website - Congratulations to Chelmsford for being recognized as a national leader in UDL. We have worked hard to scale up our efforts to support UDL.  This year alone we have created a collaboration with Fitchburg State University to offer graduate credit for our in-district UDL course.  In addition, we have developed a "UDL Study Group In a Box" that is being replicated nationally, provided tiered UDL sessions to all staff on UDL in November, offered a new multi-part series on UDL, doubled the amount of 21st classrooms outfitted for UDL implementation, produced a UDL themed Inside CPS show,  offered our administrators a supporting UDL PD session, and supported UDL book groups throughout the district. With so many more teachers building UDL capacity, that many more students are benefiting from UDL principles in their classrooms. Online sign-ups for our new UDL course cohort will be emailed to staff next month.  We look forward to continued support of this effective instructional practice.  CAST Website:http://www.udlcenter.org/implementation/fourdistricts/chelmsford
